I realize this seems like a weird topic to bring up here but I am beyond frustrated with this!!!
Thanks!

ILuvNY October 18, 2008, 4:22pm 3I have a very soft, fine hair but hate that “sprayed” look.
I use Nick Chavez’ Volumizing Spray~you can get it on QVC.
I also use his shampoo and rinse. I wash my hair every day, and find it doesn’t strip the moisture as others do.
shaper hair spray, by sebastion
aren’t we all a nice bunch

Yes, you all are…you have no idea how sick I am of “hairspray poop” every day. I even use anti-residue shampoo but it rarely does anything but make me lose my hair color faster!

Also, you might want to try a product like sumo wax (you can buy it in salons or at Trade Secret or probably Sallys. You just use a little bit (warm it up with your hairdryer). You can put a smidge in your hair before you dry it and after, before and/or after. It really gives alot of hold and then you don’t need hairspray.

I have a lot of thick hair (AS EVERY HAIRDRESSER LIKES TO TELL ME…LOL!), and I just recently got it cut short again. I do use a texturizing wax (Pantene) when my hair is dry, but it still is not enough throughout the day because my hair is so heavy. Does the wax you mentioned hold better than that?

I have super thick hair and it is also very coarse. This wax is the best wax I have ever used. It is well worth the extra money that I spend. I don’t use alot, but it gives good hold…for days.
My GOD I love this thread!!! Thank you for it.
I know what you mean about the residue. I walked out of the beauty shop one day with my hair so stiff I could have ran into someone and put their eye out! 8) When I tried to go to bed it was so stiff I was afraid it would break in half if it hit my pillow. Took 3 shampoos to break that stuff loose. L Anyway I love Redken #23. Good hold but not the yuck!
I mostly just let my hair air dry & go now, so I usually buy Wal-Mart products for the once a month I decide to curl. I like Dove aerosol the best, and it smells nice too.

I honestly don’t even use that much of it. Just a little for volume at the top. But that crap just will not stay away!!!

I thought by getting my hair cut short again it’d be an easy wash n go style and wouldn’t need to do much to it at all.
Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case! Still need some volume or it just looks weird with my round face shape.
when you need to get residue out of your hair, even just a build up of styling products, just use a clarifying shampoo, do not use it often because it will strip color, pantene has one, before my arthritis struck, i was a nail tech so i worked with hair stylists, a lot of information rubbed off on me, the professional products are wonderful, but there are some otc stuff that works just as well, pantene is one of them

I think Neutrogena is another good one that is recommened to clean up the yuk. My niece was using head & shoulders shampoo till she went to get her hair cut yesterday. The stylist told her that head & shoulders was the equivilent of using liquid ajax. That’s pretty bad. 8)
