The cast of 9-1-1: Lone Star is back together as production begins for the fifth season of the delayed firefighter drama series. The cast took to their social media accounts to express excitement at being back, with some sharing sentimental messages about what filming the fifth season means to them. According to posts by Rafael Silva, Natacha Karam, and Ronen Rubinstein, today was the first day of filming as they recorded the first scenes for the season. While they didn't share what exactly they filmed, the set pictures and videos shared showed them and other actors happy on their first day.
Silva expressed gratitude in his Instagram Story at being able to film the delayed season. He reiterated that it had been a while since they had filmed anything and was appreciative of the fact that 5 seasons was not a minor feat for shows nowadays. 9-1-1: Lone Star's fate has been uncertain since the shake-up in Fox's schedule that saw the network cancel their top-rated drama, 9-1-1. At that time, the double strikes were raging on, something that saw several TV shows fall victim and get canceled. The Season 4 finale aired mid-May last year, leaving the show's fate in the air for over six months. Even when Fox renewed the show for a fifth season, there were some caveats, including a shorter episode order, and a fall 2024 premiere.
Karam was excited to get back to work, commenting that she would "be American" for the next few months referencing the distinction between her American character and her own Irish-Lebanese nationality. She shared a picture with cast mates Brianna Baker and Brian Michael Smith in front of the fire engine. Rubinstein shared a selfie of himself smiling while wearing his paramedic uniform with the caption "T.K 5.0." Baker also shared a photo of Karam and Julian Works on set, confirming that all the junior first responders were back.
